Arosa, 1,800 m

The traditional Graubünden holiday resort of Arosa is located at the end of the picturesque Schanfigg Valley at an altitude of about 1,800 metres above sea level. The imposing mountainscape with its many peaks in summer is a perfect, extensive hiking region.

Because of its location at the bottom of a valley, Arosa is very sunny and to a great extent sheltered from strong winds. As there is no transit traffic, the air is particularly pure which is why Arosa has been a famous Alpine health resort since 1877. Arosa is accessible by Rhaetian Railways from Chur or by car across over 365 hairpin bends and through several tunnels, past the smaller holiday resort of Langwies.

Arosa is among the Swiss holiday resorts which have been awarded the "Families Welcome" quality label.

The Arosa Card is a special, visitor-friendly feature of the resort: it entitles visitors staying one or more nights in a holiday apartment, on a camp site or at a hotel to discounts or even free offers, such as rides on mountain transport facilities up the Hörnli and Weisshorn.

The hiking region boasts 200 kilometres of varied walking and hiking trails. The 15-kilometre-long ten-lake-hike, for example, takes you past one crystal clear lake after another. And walkers doing the several-day tour from Davos via Arosa to Lenzerheide can have their luggage transported from one stopover location to the next. For mountain bike riders there are 50 kilometres of trails. There is also a luggage transport service for riders embarking on tours of several days.

Families welcome

In the Junior Club, there are leisure activities and attractions for children, right from the word go. Thanks to the Arosa Card, the whole family can also benefit from the free mountain cable-/railways, while with their Guest Card they can hire rowing boats and paddle boats or visit the open-air pool, the skating rink and the local history museum and the driving range, all free of charge.
