Nature

Graubünden's Alpine landscape is breathtakingly beautiful.  With a bit of luck you will see deer, chamois, ibexes, golden eagles, bearded vultures and rare species of plants.  You can get close to all of these on enjoyable hiking trails or bike trails.  One highlight waiting to be discovered is the Swiss National Park, Switzerland's biggest nature reserve.  Enjoy the magnificent view over mountains and valleys as you breathe Graubünden's pure Alpine air.

Landscapes & nature parks

Parc Ela, Val Trupchun or Macun - these unique landscapes in Graubünden are more the work of nature than man. Their breathtaking beauty makes them well worth a visit.

Swiss National Park

With an area of 172 sq km, the Swiss National Park is the largest nature reserve and only national park in Switzerland. The region is in Engadin/Münstertal and encompasses alpine terrain at altitudes of 1,400 to 3,200 metres above sea level. The foundation of the Swiss National Park in 1914 was a milestone in the history of nature conservation. It was the first national park of the Alps and Central Europe, and is famed for its abundance of alpine flora and fauna in a pristine natural landscape.

Mountains in Graubünden

The high Alps of Graubünden fill mountain-lovers and mountain-climbers with delight. We have chosen mountains with views, which you can easily reach by cable-car. Even the great Morteratsch glacier can be seen without much effort - either by cable or on foot as far as the "tongue" of the glacier.

Gorges & lakes

The source of the Upper Rhine - Toma lake - is where the mightiest river in Europa begins: the waters of the Rhine flow 1,324 km from here to the North Sea. The Upper and Lower Rhine have also shaped the landscape of the biggest holiday region in Switzerland. Here you can find out more about our lakes and the Rhine, Viamala and Roffla gorges.
