Rheinwald local history museum

Various implements such as chests and barrels from the muleteer era are on display. The museum also documents rural life using agricultural implements and utensils for textile work. The museum is located in the palazzo of Johann Paul von Schorsch in the old part of the village of Splügen. This is one of the most splendid Splügen Schorsch houses and has beautiful interior decorations in the form of frescoes with mythological depictions.

The Rheinwald local history museum is getting an upgrade!
After more than four decades of operation, the Rheinwald local history museum is about to undergo a comprehensive remodelling. The aim is to create a cultural offering in the Rheinwald that is accessible daily and all year round! To this end, an attractive, modern exhibition that can be experienced independently is planned.

The Rheinwald Local History Museum is expected to remain closed until the end of 2024.

Pop-up exhibition Rheinwald Museum
A temporary exhibition from the Rheinwald local history museum provides insights into the time of travellers and those who stayed 200 years ago, from 1823 onwards. The pop-up exhibition is located in the guest information centre at Bodaplatz in Splügen and will be accessible during regular opening hours from June 2023 until the end of March 2024.
