Insekten-Begegnungs-Pavillon

The "Insect Encounter Pavilion" in the park of the Kurhaus Bergün is geared to the needs of the Apollo butterfly. This colourful butterfly is highly endangered and strictly protected in Europe. The genus name Parnassius apollo is derived from Mount Parnassus in central Greece, which is considered the seat of the Muses and is dedicated to the god Apollo. The Temple of Apollo in Delphi, at the foot of Parnassus, was the starting point and inspiration for the design of the artwork. As part of the "Parc Ela Insect Oasis" campaign, the artwork in Bergün contributes directly and indirectly to preserving and promoting the important species group of insects. On the one hand, the artwork itself is designed and planted in such a way that the Apollo butterfly and many other insects find habitat and food on and around the work. On the other hand, it sets a beautiful accent in the garden of the Kurhaus Bergün and is intended to encourage visitors to design insect oases themselves. The partnership with an Apollo butterfly becomes visible on the inside of the label of the soft drink Flauder Original.
