img_4kq_ejibhhjf

142.8 meter long circular viaduct in Brusio.

Description

The circular viaduct of the Rhaetian Railway has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as one of the most spectacular structures on the Albula Bernina line. The trains overcome a maximum gradient of 7% on the approach ramp and over the nine viaduct arches. Construction lasted from March to October 1907. The original variant with a loop on a dam was later dropped in favor of the elegant viaduct construction, not least to preserve as much agricultural land as possible.
