Day of Archaeology

The Rhaetian Museum, the Graubünden Archaeological Service and the Chur Cathedral Treasury Museum are jointly organising a Medieval Day as part of the European Archaeology Day. For this purpose, the area around the Rhaetian Museum is transformed into a medieval craftsman's quarter, where leather processing, bone carving, bow making, fire making, shingle production and coins are presented. There are also games, food and a scriptorium. The medieval plays, which play music from the age of chivalry on replica historical instruments, also provide the perfect setting.

In addition, some of the ten museums in the "Medieval Land of Graubünden" project present their games in the Rhaetian Museum and the Cathedral Treasury Museum. In the medieval game in the newly designed castle room of the Rhaetian Museum, children can explore the lives of three different peers in the Middle Ages on a reading track. In addition, they can make a medieval purse with the museum staff of the Vaz/Obervaz Museum. The Stamparia Strada Museum of Printing will be present with a printing press and the Museum Waltensburger Meister will offer a new dice game. The dice for the game can be made under the guidance of the Müstair Monastery Museum.
