In a mountain village, journalist Vera Kálmán meets a young stranger. She is writing an article about Romance literature, he has inherited an old house and is trying to banish his traumatic war memories here. The two meet again and again and gradually get to know each other. Kálmán reminds Vera of her older sister Sophia, who herself lives in a world of her own. When Sophia comes to visit, she also meets the mysterious Kálmán. A surprising connection is created that changes both.
The story of the three characters is told with passages from the novel "Fire Lily", with poems and with music. The poems interrupt the narrative, creating a timeless space for the essence of the three characters and their friendship. The music maintains the current of tension, the conversations between the three characters and their friendship, or frames and intensifies the silence.
