Event
Guided tour of the Holy Cross Chapel at Easter time

Description
The Carolingian Chapel of the Holy Cross may only be visited on a guided tour. Today it stands a bit apart, but was formerly integrated into the monastery complex. The chapel dates - like the monastery church - from the 8th century and thus from the time of Charlemagne. Up to ten layers of painting and whitewash once covered the walls of the Chapel of the Holy Cross. During the guided tour you will gain insight into the wall paintings from the different eras and learn more about the former precious furnishings of this chapel.
On this day there will also be a guided tour of the church and monastery museum at 14:00. If you take part in both guided tours (Church & Monastery Museum and Chapel of the Holy Cross), you will receive a reduced entrance fee. Ask in the monastery shop.
