Kunst am Mittag: Urs Lüthi "Pictures for a dead friend", 1975

With the photographic work Pictures for a Dead Friend (1975), Urs Lüthi (*1947) explores human emotions such as melancholy and loneliness. In the self-portraits, the artist shows himself in a black suit, with his chest exposed and a smoldering cigarette. His eyes, the mirrors of the soul, are obscured by black bars. The triptych belongs to a group of works in which Lüthi dealt with androgynously staged self-portraits. The question of identity manifests itself as a central search. In Kunst am Mittag, curator Damian Jurt sheds light on the work of Urs Lüthi and relates it to the theme of the exhibition Vom Wert der Kunst.
