The hamlet of Pleif, southeast of Vella, has been the spiritual centre of Lumnezia since time immemorial. Here stands the impressive valley church of S. Vintschegn with its magnificent furnishings. Legends surround this place: Since 1352, the Valerusas, the warlike Lignez women, have been sitting here on the right in the pews. A huge painting commemorates the naval battle of Lepanto.
