Swiss Hiking Night in the Safien Valley

The "Hütta" are a landmark of the Safiental landscape. They are usually lined up like a string of pearls at an altitude of about 2,000 m above sea level. In the summer, the families went up and herded their cattle and made cheese in their individual dairies. We hike from Safien Platz over the Wali Hütta up to the Zalöner Hütta and are welcomed and fed by Christian Hunger. In addition, we get an insight into his traditional individual dairy and learn interesting facts about this old tradition and how it has faded away.

Journey
Individual arrival and departure to/from Safien Platz. Please use the parking spaces at the community center. From here about 190 m into the valley to the z'Cafi.

Hiking time approx. 4 1/2 hours, ascent 800 hm, descent 800 hm, difficulty T2
