Tamina Gorge

From Vasön we explore the landforms and think about how the strange formation of the Tamina Valley came about. Traces in the landscape can reveal a lot about it. The uphill descent from Ragol and the crossing of the natural bridge lead to the Old Bad Pfäfers. The narrow Tamina gorge with its thermal spring fascinates every visitor. Before reaching the Schwattenfall stop, we climb up a narrow path to Pfäfers. From mid-May, the meadows are colourfully decorated with a magnificent plant world. In the Tamina Valley, an arm of the Rhine glacier over the Kunkelspass has left rocks from the upper Surselva behind. Past the Porta Romana and the ruins of Wartenstein Castle, it goes through mixed deciduous forest down to Bad Ragaz and along beautiful tree-lined avenues towards the train station.
