Because of the top conditions for cross-country skiing, Graubünden has been the stage for many top-class competitions and public races for many years: from the FIS Tour de Ski over Davos Nordic, to the numerous public races for everyone - such as the traditional Engadin Ski Marathon.
FIS Tour de Ski
Already for the third time, the multi-stage FIS Tour de Ski race is taking place in Lenzerheide. In the three-day cross-country event from December 30th, 2017 to January 1st, 2018, sprint races, long-distance races and pursuit races are on the agenda.
Each cross-country guest should once follow the tracks of the top athletes in the Flüela Valley cross-country ski trails, where the international elite have been competing at the “Davos Nordic” FIS world cup race since 1980. On 9th and 10th of December 2017, up to 18 000 visitors will be watching the world's best cross-country skiers compete around local hero Dario Cologna again.
The fact that the Engadin Ski Marathon, probably the most famous public cross-country race in the Alps, takes place in Engadin St. Moritz is no coincidence. The cross-country trail network is unparalleled. Once again on the 11th of March 2018, more than 13,000 athletes from all over the world will be competing – and with that thousands of spectators on the route between Maloja and S-chanf.
Other public races in Graubünden
For those whom the 42 kilometres of the Engadin Ski Marathon are too much and those who don’t like skiing in the crowds are able to find smaller and shorter public races in Graubünden.
