Details
Description
The hike starts in the village center of Bad Ragaz and then follows the Tamina promenade along to the Rhine. The Rhine also forms the cantonal border between St. Gallen and Graubünden. After crossing the Rhine, you are already on Maienfeld territory. Along fields, the path leads to the wine village of Fläsch, which was awarded the Wakker Prize in 2010 because of its clever handling of the built heritage. It continues along the vineyards to Maienfeld – the original setting of the world-famous Heidi story. In Maienfeld, you will come across, among other things, the oldest historically documented winery in Europe – Salenegg Castle. Wine has been produced here since 1068. After a glass of "Herrschäftler," the path leads back over the Rhine towards Giessenpark Bad Ragaz. The idyllic park with the enchanting Giessensee lake is the green heart of the spa town. A few more meters and you arrive back at the festival square in the village center.
