Description

The tour starts at the Arosa railway station and first takes you on an asphalt road to Untersee. There the well-prepared winter hiking trail starts, winding through the snow-covered forest, along the Plessur river and the railway line of the Rhaetian Railway to Litzirüti. Can you catch a glimpse of the red RHB train on the way? The trail continues through the Schanfigg valley to the Litzirüti train station, where you can also enjoy a culinary treat. Shortly after Litzirüti, the trail leads down to the wildly romantic banks of the Plessur, from where you can admire the Langwies viaduct from an impressive perspective. Follow the signs to Langwies, from where hourly trains run back to Arosa or to Chur.

Enjoy a culinary stopover in Litzirüti and don't forget to snap a photo of the Langwies viaduct.

Safety Note

The winter hiking trail crosses the railway line of the Rhaetian Railway, caution is advised.

The trail is used by sledgers and pedestrians, please be considerate.

Equipment

Sturdy shoes, clothing suitable for the weather and something to drink are recommended.

Public Transport

The Rhaetian Railway runs every hour from Chur to Arosa (also in the opposite direction). The hike starts directly at the train station in Arosa. Once you've finished the hike, take a train from Langwies back to Arosa or to Chur.

Travel Information

From Chur along the winding Arosastrasse to the end of the valley to Arosa. Continue in direction "Bahnhof" or leave your car at one of the parkings in Arosa and continue by bus/foot.

In Langwies the hike ends directly at the railway station, from where you can take the hourly train back to Arosa or to Chur.

Parking

At the entrance to the village there is a large signs indicating the various parking options. We recommend the Obersee car park.
