Rund um den Grep da Plaids (oua_56874377_image)
Past spruce forests and the Plaun da Plaids high plateau, this hike is often easy to do even in spring. You walk in comfortably via an alpine road and take the wild hiking trail through the mountain forest for the way back and your feet. The well-equipped barbecue area at Plaun da Plaids is waiting for you halfway through.

Description

On this very varied hike around the Grep da Plaids, the walls of light-colored Rauhwacke rock and the bizarre rock towers are impressive, as is the vegetation on carbonate-rich rock, which is unusual for the upper Surselva, especially the rare stands of mountain pines. The ruins of lime kilns are evidence of the former lime kilns.

The route first leads through open forests, May pastures and avalanche tracks, past several fireplaces and the beautiful fen in Plaun da Plaids. The short ascent to the “Grep da Plaids” viewpoint is very rewarding. The path branches off about 130 m east of the fireplace, is unmarked and only faintly visible. The small high plateau exudes the air of a Nordic heath landscape.

The hike continues immediately to the west of the rest area. After a descent past Rauhwacke formations with Legföhren and through high montane spruce forests on carbonate-rich rock, you take the marked path directly above the new melioration road and cross a wooded wetland on wooden footbridges near Arblatsch. Through the Cuolms da Runs you return to Brigels on a natural road.
