Description

Just below Brigels, you can already experience the first 500 meters downhill on trails. They are not too difficult, but still offer a few challenges. As soon as the fun is over, you cycle along the Rhine on cycle route no. 2 until shortly before Trun. Here you take the main road to the idyllic village of Zignau. The fun is over. Follow the regularly ascending gravel road along “Alpine Bike No. 1” to “Boden”. Now comes a short section of trail, some of which has to be pushed. After the stream bridge, you can continue on a gravel road and cruise deep into Obersaxen via Hanschahüs, Chriegli and Canterdü. As soon as you cross the large road bridge, there is a super fun trail in the direction of the Schwarzenstein castle ruins. Only a small sign draws attention to this. Put the bike down on the grass and climb up to the ruins along the stirrups. You will be overwhelmed by the view. The side roads that continue on are wonderful to ride. Shortly below Markal, the route branches off onto a rough gravel road, which becomes narrower and narrower and soon takes on the character of a single trail. Enjoy the fast downhill with 500 meters of depth down to the Rhine. Now follow the Polenweg trail over the wooden bridge at Rueun. There are now around 400 meters of ascent to Waltensburg. At the valley station of the chairlifts, we lead the tour again over a single trail and a forest road. If you no longer feel like it, simply take the little road via Migliè to Brigels.

Hidden Gem

If you ride the tour from Rueun, for example, you can benefit from the e-bike charging station in Danis (from Brigels you still have too little battery left). The Volg store next door makes the wait more entertaining.

The charging station in Brigels is located between the valley station of the mountain railroads and the village center. At the end of Plaun Rueun, near Cumpriva. See map.

The charging station in Waltensburg is located at the Hotel Ucliva. If you set off from the valley floor, you can charge here while waiting on the sunny restaurant terrace.

This tour can be started from any location. Also from Obersaxen Meierhof, for example. You'll be on the route in just a few hundred meters.

Safety Note

The tour should not be undertaken in uncertain weather conditions. Weather changes are frequent in the mountains. If a rain front or similar is approaching during the hike, you should turn back in good time.

Continue by bike in three minutes to the valley station in Brigels.
