Description
Hidden Gem
Combine the culinary tour with a fast-paced toboggan ride on the FLOOMZER (optional).
Safety Note
The path from the Winkelzahn junction to the Chrüz mountain restaurant is a narrow mountain hiking trail.
Equipment
Normal hiking equipment. Depending on the weather, good footwear (hiking boots) is recommended, otherwise light trekking shoes are sufficient for the tour.
Directions
From the Flumserberg Tannenboden parking lot (paid parking), you can reach Restaurant Molseralp in 2-5 minutes on foot. The restaurant is located west of the base station of the Chrüz chairlift.
Optionally, before enjoying your appetizer, you can take in the view of Lake Walensee on the Seeblick Loop Trail. To do so, turn right onto the loop trail next to the base station of the Chrüz chairlift (in front of the two barns). The route is approximately 700 meters long and takes about 15 minutes.
Restaurant Molseralp – Bergrestaurant Chrüz
The first part of the route from Restaurant Molseralp to Bergrestaurant Chrüz leads you along a hiking trail directly next to the Chrüz chairlift until you reach the gravel road (Rotberg signpost). Alternatively, you can take the slightly easier gravel road from Molseralp, passing under the toboggan run towards Schwammkopf. Continue on the gravel road, passing under the BergJet gondola lift, the Chrüz lift, and the toboggan run until you also reach the Rotberg signpost.
Then, follow the Winkelzan signpost. In Winkelzan, continue towards Seebenalp. After the curve, turn left onto the forest trail towards Chrüz (3 km, approx. 1 hour). If you want to make a detour to the Seeben lakes, allow an additional hour for the Winkelzan – Seeben lakes – Winkelzan route.
Bergrestaurant Chrüz – Restaurant Sennästube
Hike below Bergrestaurant Chrüz towards Tannenboden until you reach the next trail junction (Rotberg signpost). There, turn right towards Tannenboden (passing under the toboggan run). In the forest, you will reach a trail fork (BikerTrail junction). Turn right here towards the Heidi & Peter picnic hut.
At the Heidi & Peter picnic hut, you have a choice of routes to the Sennästube. The direct route is about 700 meters straight ahead. Alternatively, the gravel path to the right first passes a clearing before leading through the forest to the Madils plateau. This route is about 1.5 km long and takes around 30 minutes.
If you would like to extend your hike after the main course, you have the option to hike from Bergrestaurant Chrüz towards Prodalp. This hike also starts next to Bergrestaurant Chrüz and initially follows an uphill path through the forest, next to the base station of the chairlift. After that, you can enjoy a stunning panoramic view. After 1.8 km and 40 minutes, you will reach Prodalp.
From Prodalp, there are two hiking trails leading to Alp Tannenboden/Restaurant Sennästube. The direct route passes the CLiiMBER climbing tower along a narrow, slightly steep trail, taking about 30 minutes (1.5 km). The slightly longer (2.6 km, 45 min) but easier route follows the mostly paved road past the top station of the Prodalp Express and leads to the Sennästube.
Restaurant Sennästube – Flumserberg Tannenboden
For the final part of the hike, follow the road past the barns towards Tannenboden. Below Restaurant Sennästube, turn left onto the gravel path and follow it until you reach the starting point of your hike again.
