Description

You start your route leisurely in Murg and first ride along the fjord-like Walensee to Mühlehorn. From there, the path leads over side roads and trails to Filzbach. Here the ascent starts via quiet side roads towards Habergschwänd high above Filzbach. For those who prefer to enjoy the view, the comfortable ascent with the mountain railway is suitable. Once at the top, the mountain restaurant Habergschwänd invites you to take a break. Treat yourself to a short rest in the deck chairs or indulge yourself culinarly. With fresh energy, the return journey can now be started. Over rough terrain, you now descend rapidly back to Mühlehorn. Here you can have some real fun again. From Mühlehorn, a relaxed pedal follows back to Murg. Those who want can reward themselves at the destination with a jump into the lake.

Hidden Gem

For camping fans, the campsite in Murg, which is directly on the lake, is recommended.

Safety Note

Ride with foresight and behave respectfully towards other recreation seekers and road users.

Equipment

Normal bike equipment. Functional clothing is an advantage, as a long ascent is followed by an equally long descent.

Directions

From Murg train station, follow the SchweizMobil cycle route 9 Lakes Route along the Walensee to Mühlehorn. Turn left at the church in Mühlehorn, head towards Oberdorf on the road to Obstalden. Ride via Hintergrueben to Obstalden and from there again over Oberdorf and Reutegg towards Filzbach. Once there, the ascent begins via side roads up to Kerenzerberg. Follow the SchweizMobil route 301 Kerenzerberg Bike. Alternatively, the mountain railway can also be used. From the Habergschwänd mountain restaurant the return route begins. On a gravel road, reach Talalp, turn right and ride over meadow and forest paths to Schwammboden. Then continue on a paved road back to Mühlehorn. Then orient yourself again on the Lakes Route 9 to return to Murg.
