Description
The Outdoor Fitness Trails in the Heidiland holiday region include over 30 uniformly signposted running routes across a total of 10 stations, making it one of the largest outdoor fitness parks in the Alpine region. The Glarina Trail is one of three running routes around the Valens station.
The starting point for this 6.7 km trail is the Infopoint of the Valens station at the post bus stop of the Valens Clinic (915 m above sea level). All three trails first pass by the school, mini-golf course, church, and store, then ascend to the road leading to Vasön. On this road, you leave the village behind and proceed on a wooden footbridge towards Tschennerbrücke (933). After crossing the impressive bridge, almost 150 meters long and around 100 meters high, the trail continues with a gentle incline through a forest past the hamlet of Tschenner (950). From here, it proceeds along the lightly trafficked road to the idyllic village of Vasön (928) with its beautifully decorated gardens and wooden houses. Shortly after leaving the village, the trail turns left onto a hiking path that leads through mixed forests and past meadows and pastures down towards Neugüetli (800). The longer the descent lasts, the narrower and less well-maintained the trail becomes. Upon reaching the valley floor, a short but steep ascent to the Glarina plateau (870) begins. Once there, you are rewarded with a beautiful view of Valens and the surrounding mountains. The final section back to the village first crosses a meadow and then continues along a wide, well-maintained agricultural road past the village church back to the Infopoint.
