Description
Up to 10 different orchids can be admired on this route. Different species bloom every few weeks, so the hike can be done several times.
The landscape with the secluded lake is under national protection and was one of the first sites included in the Federal Inventory of Wetlands of National Importance for Birds and Amphibians. Furthermore, the surroundings of Lag digl Oberst are an important wild animal habitat.
In the 1960s, around 30 Laax farmers regularly mowed the 50 to 60 plots of the area. Today, the maintenance work is carried out by farmers in cooperation with the municipality and the responsible authorities.
