Panoramaweg-Valle Calanca (oua_37923639_image)
Beautiful, scenic family hike on the terrace high above the Calanca Valley, one of the most remote valleys of Graubünden. The path leads through forests, intact villages, and alpine summer pastures, past rocks and ravines down to the valley floor.

Description

The starting point of the hike is Braggio, a car-free mountain village accessible only on foot via the old mule track from Arvigo or by cable car. The village has several old, well-preserved houses and a small village shop. The meadows around the village and the pastures of the mountain farms are well maintained. The path climbs steeply into the forest with larches and spruces and crosses several alpine summer pastures. At Montdent, it joins a forest road which passes the impressive Auriglia Gorge. At the alpine farm of Cauco, belonging to Bersach, the descent to Selma begins, featuring the impressive parish church dedicated to Saints James and Peter. From Selma, you can return to Arvigo by post bus or on foot along the mountain stream Calancasca. The hike through the Calanca Valley passes through a landscape strongly shaped by traditional agriculture. The Parc Adula national park project aims to help preserve the landscape and way of life in the Calanca Valley.

Directions

From Braggio, follow the signposts towards Braggio Montdent. Upon arrival at Montdent, follow the hiking path to Selma.
