The route offers breathtaking views of the mountain scenery of Brigels, the peaks of the snow sports area Obersaxen Mundaun and the unobstructed view of the lower Surselva with the famous Rhine Gorge.
From the mountain station Kartitscha, the panoramic trail leads over the terrace of Obersaxen to the east towards Piz Mundaun. The route offers breathtaking views of the mountain scenery of Brigels as well as the peaks of the snow sports area Obersaxen Mundaun. In Untermatt you can visit Leo's Snack Bar. Via Gischniga you will reach the mountain inn Cuolm Sura, right next to the Kinderland. A short descent will take you to Surcuolm. However, we recommend that you continue the hike at this altitude in order not to miss the magnificent view over the Ilanzer Plain and the Rhine Gorge. The trail continues to the historic mountain restaurant Grisons Rigi. Passing the chapel of Sogn Carli, you enter the Valley of Light – the Val Lumnezia. Return from Morissen or Vella via Ilanz by post bus.

Kartitscha can be reached by chairlift from Meierhof. Alternatively, from Misanenga Winderwanderweg No. 2 up to Untermatt, or No. 3 to Gischniga.
Sicherheitshinweis
In uncertain weather conditions, you should not start the tour. Weather changes in the mountains are common. If a bad weather front or something similar develops during the hike, you should turn back in time.
Ausrüstung
Catering with hot drink, high and sturdy hiking boots or winter boots, warm clothes, sun protection, walking poles.
In summer, the house is easily accessible by public transport and a 40-minute walk from Morissen or Cuolm Sura or by car to the mountain house. In winter, the house can only be reached on foot.
