The Rhine-Reuss-Rhône Way connects the Graubünden Surselva to the vicinity of Lake Geneva. From the beginning in Disentis over the passes Oberalp and Furka to the Valais Goms we were in the mountains at over 1000 m on the way, but we have now that behind us.

Description

Leaving Sion, we take a look at a four-and-a-half-thousand-year-old tomb behind the schoolhouse on Rue-du-Petit-Chasseur. On this stage, we usually move on the «Chemin du Vignoble No. 36». As we cross the Morge, we realize that the area below this tributary was subject territory of the Upper Valais for three hundred years. In St. Pierre de Clages  we find an archaic-looking Romanesque church with an octagonal tower. In the small, pretty medieval village of Saillon on the hill, pilgrims found shelter from robbers and natural hazards in the Jacob's hospice. The street that opens up the old village centre of Saillon to the west is called Rue St. Jacques. And further up the mountain is the smallest vineyard in the world, which belongs to the Dalai Lama. The sale of the wine – of course with top wine from the region "stretched" to 1000 bottles a year – benefits children's charities.

Geheimtipp

Almost every half hour we are near a public bus station.
