Description
The small Lag Tiert, measuring only 600 m², lies about 200 meters northeast of the Laaxerhof and is a so-called karst spring, which belongs to the Flims karst system. Such a system is the result of a process that takes thousands of years, in which water combined with carbon dioxide (CO₂) dissolves limestone. Over time, this process creates increasingly branched cave systems through fissures in the underground.
The water in the lake ultimately originates from numerous infiltration points between the Vorab Glacier and Piz Grisch. From the lake, the route leads to Fossa Salums, a Bronze Age cemetery, and finally ends at the local museum.
There, a reconstructed kitchen, living room, and bedroom provide insight into how farming families lived 150 years ago. A modern slideshow under the theme “Laax – Yesterday and Today” offers a highly interesting overview of Laax.
