Tamina Gorge round tour

From the spa town of Bad Ragaz, this route leads directly into the Tamina Gorge. After a good hour, the Alte Bad Pfäfers is reached. The earliest baroque bathhouse in Switzerland, where kings and princesses once bathed, is now an oasis of nature, culture and enjoyment with supra-regional appeal. Inside there are 2 museums and the Paracelsus Memorial.

A few meters from the Old Bad Pfäfers is the entrance to the spring grotto. The path leads 450 meters into the interior of the rock to the grotto, where the spring water bubbles hot from the rock. Back at the old Bad Pfäfers the ascent begins, which leads over a natural bridge and finally out of the gorge to Pfäfers.

The tranquil village is dominated by the impressive baroque building of the monastery church and the former Benedictine abbey. Past the ruins of Wartenstein, down along the former army and trade route "Porta Romana" and the banks of the Rhine, the circular route leads back to Bad Ragaz.

It is worth a detour to the castle ruin Wartenstein, in which there is also a fireplace.
