Winterwandern: 246 Auen-Rundweg Ilanz-Castrisch

The hike leads from Fontanivas over the suspension bridge into a beautiful, wide meadow landscape. Past Sevgein and around the castle hill Castrisch, the path descends to the nature reserve Isla Sut at the entrance of the Ruinaulta, the Rhine Gorge. From the peninsula on the young Rhine it is not far to Castrisch with its picturesque village center. A cultural highlight is the Evangelical Church of S. Gier with its 14th century church tower, which is a listed building. From here it goes on the romantic hiking trail through secluded floodplain forests and nature reserves along the Vorderrhein. The scenery with the Brigels mountains and the Piz Mundaun is impressive. On the outskirts of Ilanz, the Glenner is followed again a bit to the starting point.

Cultural highlight Old Town Ilanz: enchanted alleys, imposing manor houses, valuable buildings from the 16th and 17th centuries and much more.

In uncertain weather conditions, the tour should not be started. Weather changes in the mountains are frequent. If a bad weather front or similar comes up during the hike, you should turn back in time.

Winter-proof footwear and warm clothing are a must. Sun protection, headgear and hiking poles are an advantage.
