With the gravel bike to the Cathedrals of La Rusna
Short gravel route to the secluded high valley Bargis and to the waterfalls of La Rusana.
Details
Description
From Flims, you first ride on the paved road through the Walser village Fidaz, past the mighty rock walls of the Flimserstein, up to Bargis. The high valley with its alpine farming is known for its spectacular rock walls and unique mountain scenery. The route continues on a natural road over the plateau, which then slowly rises and finally ends at Alp Rusna.
Behind Alp Rusna on the left is the narrow, gorge-like entrance to the "Cathedral". A footpath leads along the stream through the steep rock walls; caution especially with approach shoes, as the trail is very slippery. From here you reach the Cathedral, where two waterfalls plunge down the high pulpit.
The descent is on the same path as the ascent; watch out for oncoming traffic when descending from Barigs to Flims!
Hidden Gem
Stop for a break in Bargis before the rapid descent.
