The Bergell Valley Museum is located in the Ciäsa Granda, an imposing patrician house from the 16th century.

Description

The Ciäsa Granda exhibits works by the Giacometti family, by Varlin and by other artists. Twice a week there is also a guided tour through the Giacometti studio.

In dioramas and reconstructed workshops, the museum shows how people used to live and work in Bergell. What is the story of the confectioners? What is the purpose of the cascine (small stone huts in the chestnut groves)? Even older traces of human activity in the valley date back 8,000 years. And not only Etruscans and Romans have left their traces all over the valley...
Many animal and plant species are also at home in the Bergell and are exhibited in the Ciäsa Granda to match their habitats. In addition, the mineral collection deals with the geology of the Bergell. Three geological units of the central Alps meet here: Bergell granite, the Pennine sheets of the Western Alps and the Eastern Alpine sheets.

During the summer months, the Ciäsa Granda shows changing exhibitions.
