Art in the landscape

Description

Crafts - Aesthetics - Ecology. The construction of dry stone walls is craft, art and science at the same time. The environmentally friendly but labor-intensive construction method does not require any mortar. Raw split stones from quarries or, as in the past, stones from rüfen, old walls and the like are used. The stones do not have exact geometric shapes, as they are processed as little as possible. The appearance, texture and colour of the dry stone walls are highly dependent on the type of rock and the degree of processing. These dry stone paths can be found in two different places in Disentis: in Salaplauna and between the sports centre and the sontga Gada church.
