Description

Starting at the valley station of the Disentis mountain railways, we enter the Val Clavaniev. Here, we choose the demanding ascent on the hiking trail through the forest, up to Plaun Grond and further to the altitude of the alpine meadow Truaisch. The section to Casa Lavinaras gives us some relaxation so that we can enjoy beautiful views deep into the valley while walking. From here, we have to push quite hard again. In short switchbacks we quickly gain height again, but as soon as we reach Plaun Tir, the worst is over. Under the rugged cliffs of Piz Cavardiras and Piz Acletta, we walk towards Lag Serein. The crystal-clear, turquoise-blue lake is a true gem among mountain lakes and tempts us to a longer break and a refreshing swim. On the final section to Caischavdra, we catch our breath and enjoy the view of the glacier world on the opposite valley side. The ride down with the aerial cableway is a very relaxed end to the route.

Hidden Gem

From Val Clavaniev to Casa Lavinaras everything can also be walked on a forest road, where the gradient is more moderate.

Safety Note

Carry enough water - no fountains on the way
