Description

Today it's time for a leisurely warm-up! From Brigels (1290 m above sea level) you ride through typical villages of the Surselva to Trun (861 m above sea level). Hourly from here the Rhaetian Railway runs upstream. Load your gravel bike onto the red RhB and reach Tschamut (1645 m above sea level) via Disentis. From here you follow the still young Rhine towards its source. Initially, cycle route 3 leads you in the direction of the Oberalp Pass; at Surpalits, switch to MTB route no. 205. A steep gravel road takes you into high alpine terrain where the air gets thinner with every pedal stroke. At Siara (2174 m above sea level), you can choose to tackle the last 900 meters and 176 meters altitude gain to the source of the Anterior Rhine on foot. A steep and rugged path leads to Lai da Tuma (2345 m above sea level). If you prefer riding, follow the natural road to the Maighelshütte (2314 m above sea level). The hut is the highest point at the tributaries of the Anterior Rhine accessible by bike. A well-deserved rest awaits before you first follow the natural road and then the Oberalp Pass road back to Tschamut (1645 m above sea level). In Selva, turn off the main road and take the Graubünden Bike Route 90 to Sedrun (1406 m above sea level). Here a short detour to the village is worthwhile to recharge with the smallest nut cake in the world at “La Conditoria.” Via Surrein you proceed over Muota Pigniel to Uaul Cavorgia (1662 m above sea level), which impresses with its flora and a great panoramic view. The route then takes you via Mumpé Medel to Disentis (1130 m above sea level). From afar, you can already see the impressive Benedictine monastery that has shaped the town since the 13th century.

Of the 71.5 km, 23.7 km are covered by train.
