Description
Day 1: Maloja – Lägh da Cavloc - Plan Canin – Val Forno – Fornohütte (4-5h)
From the village of Maloja (1803m) follow the hut trail to the Fornohütte and thus reach the idyllic Lägh da Cavloc (restaurant). The next waypoint is Plan Canin, where Val Forno (right) and Val Muretto (left) separate. The most direct route from here to the Fornohütte leads through the magnificent, high-alpine scenery of Val Forno. Thanks to the good trail construction and clear markings, you reach the hut (2574m) without special difficulties.
Day 2: Fornohütte – Sella del Forno – Alpe dell’Oro – Rifugio Longoni (6h)
From the Fornohütte, ascend eastwards and cross Sella del Forno (2769m). Following the signs, descend into Val Bona, cross a bridge, and continue descending until you reach a dilapidated alp hut at about 2000m. Now take the left path, which goes down to Alpe Monterosso inferiore and after a short ascent to Alpe dell’Oro. Here begins the flowery high-altitude hike to Alpe Fora. Afterwards, it is not far to Rifugio Longoni (2450m).
