The first boulderers (boulder climbers) discovered the "Magic Wood" area in the municipality of Ferrera back in 1996. In 2004, this trend was taken up by the municipality and the "Magic Wood" area was rezoned as a bouldering zone.

The chapel, which was designed by Peter Zumthor, is located a few hundred meters from the old site. The timber construction integrates elements of the local building style and is both traditional and very modern. The teardrop-shaped floor plan plays with natural geometric shapes, while inside, skylights and the abundance of wood lend the room a warm and light atmosphere.
