It is believed that there was already a chapel in Surrein in 1595. The church was re-consecrated in 1643. The church of Surrein is dedicated to St. Placidus. The present church with three altars was built by the Capuchins and consecrated in 1695. In 1786, Surrein became an independent parish. The church was fully renovated in 1908. The last major renovation took place in 1950/51.

The ruins of Cagliatscha Castle are situated at 1182 metres above sea level between Andeer and Clugin on a rocky outcrop high above the valley. In front of the ruins is a picnic area with a barbecue site and a fountain, offering a magnificent view of the valley.

The mobile farm shop "Us am Avers" brings local specialities directly from the high valley to the plate. Alpine cheese, dried meat, salsiz, bira bread and Avner Chümischnaps are among the classics. In addition, there are special discoveries such as rowan berry salt, dandelion balsamic vinegar or mountain teas - made with love by producers from the Avers.
