In search of the clear light, Segantini is drawn higher and higher. He spends his summers in a hut on Alp Tussagn. There he paints "Cows at the Drinking Trough" and "Lunch in the Alps".

The former monastery church was built around the year 800 in the time of Charlemagne. The Romansh name Mistail originates from the Latin 'monasterium' and means monastery.

Segantini 07: Ritorno all'ovile – Rückkehr zum Schafstall, 1888
The sheep are returned from the pasture to the barn shortly before dark. Segantini thus addresses the intimate bond between humans and animals. The original stable no longer exists, it stood east of the Veia Tgaplottas (Chapel Path). In the background of the picture you can see the chapel.
