With the new FlemXpress, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sardona is now directly accessible from Flims via cable car for the first time. It’s a pioneering project in the cable car industry.
The 10-person gondola operates on demand thanks to a unique technology found nowhere else in the world. Passengers can select various destinations directly with the push of a button.
If no gondolas are in use, they remain along the route. Boarding the standing cabin is barrier-free and without rush, even with luggage or sports equipment.
**Practical Information:**
+ barrier-free, suitable for wheelchairs and strollers
+ dogs are allowed and travel for free (under your seat)
UNESCO World Heritage Geopark
The collision of the two continents Africa and Europe created the Alps. Nowhere else in the world does this geological history appear as monumental as in the tectonic arena of Sardona.
Here, 250 to 300 million-year-old rocks were thrust over much younger rocks that are only 35 to 50 million years old. This occurred 10 to 20 million years ago, deep below the Earth’s surface at that time.
Due to its geological significance, the area of around 32,800 hectares above Flims was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008.
The rugged peaks of the Tschingelhörner, the Martinsloch, and the lower and upper Segnesboden characterize this spectacular landscape.
Cabin equipment
All 120 cabins are equipped with two mobile charging stations and a ventilation system that prevents the windows from fogging up.
Since the FlemXpress operates year-round and offers night rides, the cabins are fitted with subtle exterior lighting.
Route
The route runs from Flims to Segnes and Nagens Sura. Starting summer 2025, you’ll also be able to ride to Cassons.
**Route details:**
+ Flims
+ Foppa
+ Startgels
+ Segnes
+ Nagens Sura
+ Cassons
Information about the goals
**Flims – Foppa – Startgels:**

The paths are easy to walk and suitable for children as well as seniors. In winter, gentle slopes provide a laid-back experience. Numerous mountain restaurants serve regional specialties and cozy places to unwind.
**Segnes – Cassons:**
The FlemXpress is named after the Flem River, which originates in the Segnes area. Spectacular panoramas and impressive mountain ranges invite exploration. You can see the collision of the African and European continental plates at the Tschingelhörner. Here, you’ll experience untouched nature, enjoy the tranquility, and discover rare bird species. With a bit of luck, you might spot the protected Mornellregenpfeifer. You can explore the UNESCO World Heritage site Tektonikarena Sardona while hiking, climbing, or freeriding.
**Nagens Sura:**
The Nagens Sura area provides unrestricted access to the entire destination and additional mountain lifts. An extensive network of bike trails, slopes, and trail running routes offers diverse experiences. Adrenaline is guaranteed at all times.

A Swiss Ranger accompanies you on the beaver tour (in German) in Giessenpark in Bad Ragaz. The rager will guide you to the beaver lodge and with a bit of luck you will be able to witness the animals at work.
Observation of beavers in their natural habitat
Exciting information from a Swiss Ranger
The active beavers in the Giessenpark near Bad Ragaz are awake when most people are asleep, which is why the beaver tours begin in the evening. A Swiss Ranger leads the way to where the beavers are at work. Beavers are excellent builders and can build impressive dams out of twigs, sticks and mud to dam up rivers and streams and shape their habitats. With a bit of luck, you can watch the beavers at work or foraging for food.
