… and has been doing so for around 695 years! The Clugin church with its "style typical of Graubünden country churches", according to the art guide on display, must have been built before the middle of the 14th century. The Waltensburg and Rhäzüns paintings are dated to around 1340. Since 1530, it has been said that the Schamser Berg followed the Reformed direction. The church of Clugin thus stands in its "archaic-seeming simplicity" almost 200 years before the church of Jesus split into Protestant and Catholic.

In addition to the special wall paintings, this probably also contributes to its unique Romanesque atmosphere. Numerous entries in the church's guest book express the special nature of this place and space. I therefore invite you monthly to this historically and spiritually "condensed" unique place, from spring to autumn.

Invite to listen to silence, to experience spirituality. Usually on Wednesdays from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. we will listen to texts from the contemplative tradition in small form, sing occasional songs, e.g. Taizé songs, and above all experience silence in silence.

The dates for 2026 for "Abendstille in Clugin" to note: 15 April, 13 May, 10 June, 01 July (!), 12 August, 09 September and 07 October.

Of course, the evenings are open to everyone, whether Reformed, Catholic or non-denominational, like the small church itself at that time!
