Description

Explora Live Show by Stefan Forster

For 20 years, photographer and filmmaker Stefan Forster has been travelling to the most remote regions of Northern Europe. His brand new live show combines natural beauty with state-of-the-art camera technology and personal adventures to create an emotional and visually stunning experience. Icebergs and volcanoes, humpback whales and reindeer herds, autumn colours and northern lights – these are the forces of nature, captured in a masterpiece of aesthetics. It doesn't get any better than this!

The story follows the rhythm of the seasons: In early summer, Stefan Forster ventures through the pack ice on the coast of Greenland on a chartered sailing ship. Whales appear between icebergs, and shortly after midnight the first polar bear is visible through binoculars. The short, intense Arctic summer continues to Svalbard, where polar bears wander along mighty glacier fronts, walruses lie on the rugged coasts, and beluga whales play in the clear waters. In Iceland, Forster discovers bright blue ice caves, black beaches, lava-spewing volcanoes and a moss-green highland. On the Lofoten Islands in Norway, the first dancing Northern Lights of the year can be seen over the rugged mountains. Winter in northern Finland not only leads to fabulous photos of low-hanging, snow-covered tree figures on a snowshoe tour at minus 40 degrees, but also to a time of silence and clarity.

But Stefan Forster's live show does not only live from the experience of nature. It is a personal story about patience, risk, proximity to Arctic wildlife and the exhausting search for the perfect light. After all, anyone who pulls a 30-kilo pulka through the winter landscape for international assignments also experiences setbacks and losses. Thus, this production is a visual narrative about time, change and passion for the northernmost landscapes of our earth. All images, films and stories are completely new and have never been presented in this form on the live stage before.
