State-of-the-art technology for rail travellers: The 5860 metre long Albula Tunnel II replaces the Albula Tunnel, which opened in 1903. Both tunnels are masterpieces of engineering.

2008: UNESCO World Heritage Site

1922: Completion of Electrification

The line from Bever to Scuol made the start in 1913. By 1922, the entire main network of the Rhaetian Railway from the Engadin to Chur and Landquart had been converted from coal to electricity.

1904: Thusis–St. Moritz Line

144 bridges, 42 tunnels: the spectacular Albula line was opened on 1 July 1903. The line, which was extended from Thusis to St. Moritz, began operating in 1904.

1889: Landquart–Klosters Line

The ground-breaking ceremony took place in 1888 and the railway line was opened a year later – at the instigation of Graubünden railway pioneers and the Dutchman Willem-Jan Holsboer.
