The enchanting Bergell, or Val Bregaglia, just asks to be conquered: from the Engadin, a line of exactly 14 hairpin bends leads down into the valley. Over the Maloja Pass, you descend in altitude 220 meters in a distance of only 500 meters – as the crow flies. If you achieve this, you reach an alpine paradise that is pampered by a mild climate. Thus, there are chestnuts thriving here whose trees are still tended – as they have been for hundreds of years.
