Description
From the mountain station of the aerial cableway in Cuolm da Vi we first hike up a road where we soon reach a small pond with a picnic area in Gendusas Dadens. We are here in the ski area, but the terrain has remained quite natural from here on. After passing another, somewhat larger lake, the path leads us up to Lai Alv. Shortly after begins the ascent to La Muota, which is secured with a rope. The entire crossing of the ridge requires good surefootedness. At the highest point we are greeted by a mighty stone cairn, and there is nothing to impair the view. We overlook a mountain panorama from the Oberalp Pass far into the Surselva below. Another highlight of the route is the wetland Verclisa and the turquoise Lag Serein, which is as clear as the name suggests. The water temperature is not like in the Caribbean, but a short swim provides the famous "tingling freshness"! Through alpine rose bushes we hike to the mountain station in Caischavedra. The circle closes with an aerial cableway ride down and a train ride back to Sedrun.
Variants for hikes between the mountain stations:
1: From Gendusas Dadens continue on the road to Gendusas Dado up to Caischavedra. This route runs entirely on a rough road and is therefore not very attractive. (Not stroller-friendly) T2
2: From Cuolm da Vi on a newly laid hiking trail to Piz Las Palas and on the Senda Pauli to Caischavedra. T2
Hidden Gem
At the mountain station Cuolm da Vi there has been the new mountain restaurant Parvis with breathtaking views since the winter season 2024/25. But also at the mountain station Caischavedra you can linger in the panoramic restaurant with a large terrace. Barbecue facilities are available at the lake in Gendusas Dadens.
Safety Note
The slope restaurants in Lai Alv and Bar Nevada in Gendusas Dado are closed in summer.
Surefootedness is required over La Muotta
