Auf dem Weg zwischen Rubi Su und der Bifertenhütte
The Crown of the Surselva is an impressive and partly challenging circular hike from hut to hut in Graubünden. It connects the seven mountain huts in the Surselva – the anterior Rhine valley between Flims and the Rhine source at the Oberalp Pass, including the valleys of Vals, Lumnezia, and Medel.

Details

Description

From the village exit, the path leads along the Flem into Val Frisal to Alp Rubi sut and then steeply up through flower meadows to Alp Rubi sura. The terrain then becomes flatter, and you hike, accompanied by the wonderful mountain panorama, comfortably to the hut.

Bifertenhütte "The child’s play"

The Bifertenhütte was newly opened in 2018 after renovation.

It is located on an extensive high plateau at 2,482 m and was built in 1928 by the Academic Alpine Club Basel. The hut has 24 sleeping places and has kept its rustic character to this day. The path to the hut and the surrounding terrain are very child-friendly and safe. On excursions, glittering stones and fossils millions of years old can be discovered.

Also near the hut, large chamois herds can often be observed up close. A special experience is surely the Kistenstöckli. From the hut, you can reach the summit of the table mountain in about 40 minutes. At the top, you are majestically greeted by many, up to man-high stone cairns. Now a 360-degree panoramic view opens up, with the highest peaks of Glarus, Tödi, and Bifertenstock coming within immediate reach. Opening times: continuously from July to the end of September, from mid-June to mid-October on weekends and in good weather. Half board and provisions for day guests are available.
