Around the Grep da Plaids
Show all 7 images
Past spruce forests and the high plateau Plaun da Plaids, this hike is often already doable in spring. You walk leisurely along an alpine path and take the wild hiking trail through the mountain forest for the return and for your feet. In the middle, at Plaun da Plaids, the well-equipped fire pit awaits your grill goods.

Description
On this very varied hike around the Grep da Plaids you will be impressed by the walls of bright rauhwacke rock and the bizarre rock towers, as well as the unusual vegetation pattern for the upper Surselva on carbonate-rich rock, in particular the rare mountain pine stands. Ruins of lime kilns testify to the former lime burning industry.
First it goes through open forests, alpine pastures and avalanche zones, past several fire pits and the beautiful flat moor in Plaun da Plaids. Very worthwhile is the short ascent to the viewpoint "Grep da Plaids". The path branches off about 130 m east of the fire pit, is unmarked and only faintly visible. The small high plateau radiates the aura of a northern heathland.
The hike continues immediately west of the rest area. After a descent, past rauhwacke formations with creeping pines and through high-montane spruce forests on carbonate-rich rock, you take the marked path directly above the new melioration road and cross a wooded wetland on wooden boardwalks near Arblatsch. Through the Cuolms da Runs, it goes back to Brigels on a natural road.
