Schlüechtli from Tenna in the Safien valley
Show all 5 images
A beautiful snowshoeing route starting from the small mountain village of Tenna in the quiet Safien valley. At the top of the summit, as a reward for the good 600 meters of ascent, there is a phenomenal view - very typical for the entire ridge route in the Safien valley.
Details
Description
The start is at Tenna Mitte, about 50 meters beside the postal bus terminus and the village shop. Alternatively, you can also start from the church.
The terrain is not exactly flat but very suitable for snowshoeing. You can perfectly leave your tracks in the sunny and snow-covered mountain slopes. From Tenner Alp, we are definitely above the tree line and the area becomes more alpine. Shortly before the steep summit slope, you reach the Stelliseen, which in winter are only visible by a deep crater hole. In difficult conditions, it is advisable to turn back here. The summit area with a steepness of over 30 degrees must be earned hard. But, as could it be otherwise: It is worth it!!! The panorama extends from the Oberalp area, through the whole of Surselva, over the Chur Rhine valley to the Prättigau.
The return can be made via the same route.
Hidden Gem
In safe conditions, it is also possible to descend from Stelli towards Tenner Chrüz and the Allmeinihütte. Those who still have energy can also include the Tenner Chrüz.
Places to eat in Tenna:
-Pistenbeizli at the solar ski lift
Safety Note
Ski and snowshoe routes in unsecured terrain require good knowledge in avalanche danger assessment and tour planning. Furthermore, a complete safety outfit must always be carried - regardless of the current avalanche danger.
We recommend the APP and website of WhiteRisk for preparation and tour planning.
For carefree enjoyment, we recommend our mountain guides and snowshoe hiking leaders of Surselva.
