Description
After crossing the Hinterrhein, the route runs along well-developed trails towards Domleschg. As the distance increases, the landscape opens up and the path passes through open cultural spaces with changing surfaces. After about eight kilometers, Lake Canova (Leg da Canova) is reached, a small, idyllic mountain lake used as a natural swimming lake in summer, inviting for a longer break.
The return journey continues through Domleschg and offers beautiful views of Ortenstein Castle, one of the distinctive buildings in the region rich in castles. Then the route follows a quiet section along the Hinterrhein before crossing the river again via another wooden bridge and finally returning to Thusis.
The tour is suitable for gravel bike riders with good basic fitness who are looking for a varied loop with scenic and cultural highlights. Despite the moderate length, the changing surfaces and slightly hilly terrain provide a sporty but well-controllable riding experience.
