Description

The Canovasee gravel circuit starts in Thusis and first leads over several bridges over the Hinterrhein, including the Silserbrüggli. These sections form scenic highlights right from the start and lead into a quiet, natural route away from motorised traffic.

After crossing the Hinterrhein, the route runs along well-developed paths in the direction of Domleschg. As the distance increases, the landscape opens up and the route leads through open cultural areas with changing surfaces. After about eight kilometres, you reach Lake Canova (Leg da Canova), a small, idyllic mountain lake that is used as a natural swimming lake in summer and invites you to take a longer break.

The way back continues through the Domleschg and offers beautiful views of Ortenstein Castle, one of the striking buildings of the castle-rich region. The route then follows a quiet section along the Hinterrhein before crossing the river again over another wooden bridge and finally returning to Thusis.

The tour is suitable for gravel bike riders with a good basic level of fitness who are looking for a varied round trip with scenic and cultural highlights. Despite the moderate length, the changes in surface and the slightly hilly topography ensure a sporty, but well-controllable driving experience.
