Description

The Pass da Roda connects Bergell with Avers. Either from Casaccia through the Val Maroz or from Soglio via Pass da la Duana. Over the Pass da Roda you reach the rugged Madristal. At Alp La Sovrana you meet a long agricultural track that leads to the village Cröt and there joins the Avers valley road.

Hidden Gem

The route can easily be extended to a two-day trip with an overnight stay in Avers. Return via the Bergalgatal or the Pass da la Prasgnola.

Directions

From Soglio you reach the Pass da Roda via the Pass da la Duana. About 500 m north of the pass, the path to the Pass da Roda branches off to the northwest.
Or you start in Casaccia, hike through the Val Maroz and the Val da la Duana and meet at its southern end the junction that leads into the wide catchment basin of the Pass da Roda with its many mountain lakes. You hike over the sparse alpine pasture full of rocky knobs until it meets the Prasignola valley. At this point, you reach the path that comes down from the pass of the same name, and follow it downhill to the plateau where the huts of Alp Sovrana (1995 m) stand and on the left the Val da Lägh flows in. On the flat road you continue past the small reservoir of Preda. Below the houses of Hohenhaus cars are allowed, but you are anyway not far from the little village Cröt. Here there are overnight accommodation options and a post bus connection.
