Via Francisca: Ilanz - Disentis

Of the three stages since Chur, this is the longest. It runs largely directly along the Rhine, mostly on the south bank. This stage climbs almost imperceptibly at the beginning. However, the slightly steeper climbs increase towards the end of the stage, so that we climb a good 700 meters in altitude on this stage. However, we always find slightly larger settlements on the way, in which accommodation is also offered. While yesterday we had the stage of short steps, uphill and downhill, today we have the stage of longer steps.
The stage location Disentis/Mustér offers itself as a place to stay. The parish church and the Benedictine monastery are open during the day. The monastery was destroyed several times in the course of its history and once even cremated, whereby not only art treasures, but also the archive and the library were lost. The monastery was restored three times, the last time in 1880.
