Details
Description
We take the train to Tschamut. We walk through a young forest in two long hairpin bends up to the height of Scharinas. If we need a break on the way, we find nice resting benches at the roadside. Or we continue through to Milez, where we take a break on the terrace of the alpine hut Las Palas. Deck chairs invite you to stay a little longer. We overlook the whole Tujetsch with its villages and hamlets and the horizon is dotted with numerous peaks with and without eternal snow.
On a scarcely used road, through pastures and meadows with a great variety of flowers, we then hike downhill. Where the Giuv Chapel stands, there was still a small hamlet with more than 20 inhabitants and several houses in the 18th century. Almost everything was destroyed by an avalanche, only the chapel remained undamaged.
Via Rueras, Zarcuns and Camischolas Sura we return to Sedrun train station.
Hidden Gem
The alpine hut Las Palas is open in dry weather. There is homemade cake with whipped cream!
Directions
From the train stop in Tschamut, we follow the paved road uphill to the height of Scharinas. Up to Milez, at the same elevation, the road is unpaved. At the Milez restaurant, we choose the paved road back down to the main road. After 5 minutes, we turn left in Rueras towards the train stop, but after 100 meters we go straight ahead and thus reach Zarcuns. We leave the houses on the right and walk in a small arc over Camischolas Sura and further to Sedrun train station.
