Guarda in the Lower Engadine is such a beautiful village that it has been awarded the Wakker Prize and its townscape has been awarded the title of "national importance". One of the stately houses inspired Alois Carigiet when he drew Schellenursli's house. The Schellenursli village of Guarda is located on a sunny south-facing terrace of the Lower Engadine at 1653m. In summer and winter, well-maintained hiking trails lead out of the village with the beautifully painted Engadine houses from the first half of the 17th century into the impressive landscape. With the GPS-based app "Dorfrundgang Guarda", the village can be discovered in an interactive way. At the 15 selected stations, you can learn more about the past and present, landscape and nature and also about what Guarda has to offer in terms of handicrafts and gastronomy. A special hiking trail is also dedicated to the Schellenursli, which is particularly suitable for families, as it can also be hiked in stages. Of course, the tradition of Chalandamarz, the expulsion of winter with large cowbells, is maintained in Guarda. Children's ski lift, ice rink, toboggan run and cross-country ski trail round off the offer for families in winter.
